This is one of my best Christmas memories, making Krumkake with my Mom. It does take a while since each cookie is made individually. However, it is totally worth the wait. The cookies are crisp and sweet. I would much rather make them using the stove top method and not the new electric krumkake makers. I remember concentrating on getting them just the right amount of done… with my Mom watching. We would listen to Christmas music and talk as we worked. I guess some memories should not be messed with!

I absolutely love it. Even though it is time intensive, standing at the stove, you get rewarding results! The wooden handle prevents you from getting any burns; just make sure you don't touch the other handle--ouch! Unlike a waffle iron, you don't need to grease the krumkake iron. It seasons itself during the first use! My husband bought this for me as an anniversary present (I have been wanting one for ages)! I absolutely love it. Even though it is time intensive, standing at the stove, you get rewarding results! The wooden handle prevents you from getting any burns; just make sure you don’t touch the other handle–ouch! Unlike a waffle iron, you don’t need to grease the krumkake iron. It seasons itself during the first use! I would recommend this product to anyone who loves good, old-fashioned taste and who doesn’t mind spending a couple of hours achieving it.

I think whoever typed in the title just made a mistake. Regardless... <br/><br/>I could not be happier with this waffle maker. I turn it on and it's ready to go before I finish mixing my batter. It is really easy. The waffle is about 7.5 inches in diameter. The griddles are non-stick and I can grab the waffle out with my fingers (probably not the smartest option) without oiling the griddle. The whole waffle comes out with nothing to clean. I know I will never buy frozen waffles from the grocery again. <br/><br/>I am kind of a health nut (I really got this for my kids), so typically, waffles are not in my diet. So, I make my batter with Bob's Red Mill, organic, high fiber pancake and waffle mix. I use egg whites instead of whole eggs and I use unsweetened almond milk instead of cow's milk (although, water might be healthier). I spread honey instead of pancake syrup and then sprinkle cinnamon on top. The waffles are amazing. <br/><br/>Again, this is not a double waffle maker. But, the waffle is ready in a minute or two. Why do you need to make two at once? As the previous reviewer stated, this is a single waffle maker, not a double. I think whoever typed in the title just made a mistake. Regardless…

I could not be happier with this waffle maker. I turn it on and it’s ready to go before I finish mixing my batter. It is really easy. The waffle is about 7.5 inches in diameter. The griddles are non-stick and I can grab the waffle out with my fingers (probably not the smartest option) without oiling the griddle. The whole waffle comes out with nothing to clean. I know I will never buy frozen waffles from the grocery again.

I am kind of a health nut (I really got this for my kids), so typically, waffles are not in my diet. So, I make my batter with Bob’s Red Mill, organic, high fiber pancake and waffle mix. I use egg whites instead of whole eggs and I use unsweetened almond milk instead of cow’s milk (although, water might be healthier). I spread honey instead of pancake syrup and then sprinkle cinnamon on top. The waffles are amazing.

Again, this is not a double waffle maker. But, the waffle is ready in a minute or two. Why do you need to make two at once? If you do, this is not for you.

Anyhow…. the rest of my waffle is getting cold.

This waffle cone maker looks more like a pizzel or krumkakke iron. The depth of the waffle doesn’t represent the ice-cream store cones. The recipe that comes with it is very similar to krumkakke and definitely NOT a traditional ice cream waffle cone either from your favorite ice creamery or from the Scoopy brand grocery store waffle cones.

As a krumkakke iron it might fit your needs.

The main issue here is that this isn't some sort of miracle device that will magically create perfect waffle cones. If, however, you are willing to work and experiment a bit to develop your technique for using this device properly, I think you'll be quite happy with it in the end. <br/><br/>At first I used the recipe that came in the box, and it worked fine as long as I didn't press the iron closed, but instead gently lowered the lid until it stopped on its own. This yielded pleasantly thick and somewhat chewy cones, but the recipe that I've copied below made it possible for me to press the iron closed and get crunchier cones. Being able to press the iron closed makes the process a bit more "foolproof", so give it a try... <br/><br/>6 extra large eggs <br/>1/2 cup vegetable oil <br/>1 Tablespoon vanilla extract <br/>1 1/2 cups sugar <br/><br/><br/>3 cups all purpose flour <br/>2 teaspoons baking powder <br/>1/2 teaspoon salt <br/><br/>Whisk the first four ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. (Note that I like to use rice bran oil because it has a very high smoke point, and a completely neutral flavor.) Oh yeah - remember to spray the iron with a light coat of cooking spray (I used organic canola oil) once at the start of the batch of waffles. After that the oil in the batter provides for easy relase just fine. I think this product has been unfairly rated kind of low. The main issue here is that this isn’t some sort of miracle device that will magically create perfect waffle cones. If, however, you are willing to work and experiment a bit to develop your technique for using this device properly, I think you’ll be quite happy with it in the end.

At first I used the recipe that came in the box, and it worked fine as long as I didn’t press the iron closed, but instead gently lowered the lid until it stopped on its own. This yielded pleasantly thick and somewhat chewy cones, but the recipe that I’ve copied below made it possible for me to press the iron closed and get crunchier cones. Being able to press the iron closed makes the process a bit more “foolproof”, so give it a try…

6 extra large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups sugar

3 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Whisk the first four ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. (Note that I like to use rice bran oil because it has a very high smoke point, and a completely neutral flavor.) Sift the last three into the bowl little by little, stiring them in as you go (back and forth between sifting a bit and stirring a bit) so that you end up with a smooth, thick batter.

Take a look at the video my girfriend shot of me attempting to clearly demonstrate 1) pouring the batter, 2) pressing the iron closed, and 3) rolling the finished product. Total cooking time for 1 waffle is just under 1 1/2 minutes – as you can see from the video which is an unedited single shot. Oh yeah – remember to spray the iron with a light coat of cooking spray (I used organic canola oil) once at the start of the batch of waffles. After that the oil in the batter provides for easy relase just fine. Good luck, have fun, technique is important!
